Welcome to the Glasgow Life Photo Library

In line with government guidance our staff are mainly working from home, and the Photo Library website is monitored twice weekly, except for the Christmas and New Year period. We will try to respond to any queries or orders as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience, and stay safe.


The last day for Christmas orders was Tuesday 15 December. The Photo Library will be not be monitored between 4pm on Wednesday 16 December 2020 and 10.00 am Wednesday 6 January 2021, but we would like to wish you a merry Christmas.


Please note that from the 1st January, the VAT rates charged to our European customers may differ, and our website will be updated to reflect this as soon as details are confirmed. Thank you for bearing with us during this time.

The Glasgow Life Photo Library holds images from the unique collections of Glasgow Museums and Glasgow Libraries and Archives. With paintings from all the major European schools - including Old Masters, French Impressionists, Glasgow Boys (and Girls) and the pre-Raphaelites - to social history images and historic photographs of shipbuilding on the Clyde, we offer opportunities to add a fresh look to your product range, publication, project or campaign. Some images now available under Creative Commons licences Low resolution images (72dpi, 640 pixels, suitable for research purposes, PowerPoint presentations, etc.) of many of our objects are available for non-commercial use under a Creative Commons licence.
